If the hosttype could not be detected from the server version string, WS_FTP Pro v7.03 was not sending the 'SYST' command to complete the automatic hosttype detection. Issues Fixed in Version 7.03 ============================ - Security Fix - When attempting to make a secure (SSL) connection to an FTP server that does not support SSL, WS_FTP Pro was sending the username and password in clear text before prompting the user to continue with a non-secure connection. Issues Fixed in Version 7.02 ============================ - Performance in getting and sorting directory lists for large directories. - Edit file didn't use the text viewer like version 6.7. - Can't change directory or delete files on MVS host. - Find Utility crashed when transferring files. - Time Difference and Time Offset worked incorrectly in Sync Utility. - Folder exclusion didn't work correctly in Sync Utility. - Find Utility crashed in Win ME when canceling a paste. - Auto reget information in help was incorrect. - Duplicate items would keep pages from being displayed in help. - Copying sites/folders into the same directory crashed Explorer. - RETR and STOR FTP commands ignored the specified transfer mode. - MPUT didn't not support "*.extension" syntax in Script Utility. - Classic didn't support sorting by Type field. - No help (F1) was available in Firescript Editor. - Classic and Explorer used too many resources when viewing large directories. - Files could not be copied and pasted to desktop in Find Utility. - Sorting by "in folder" didn't work correctly and sorting by "Type" didn't work in Find Utility. - GET and PUT commands in Script Utility had to have filename in the destination. - Directory display was incorrect for OS/390 V2R10. - Crash occurred when dragging and dropping from Explorer to Classic. - Site-to-site transfer without permission on one site caused transfer dialog displayed forever. - Drive letters disappeared when deleted. - Downloading a large file with "close dialog option" checked caused crash in Browser Integration. - Long password crashed Classic. - In site-to-site transfer, even though without permission, transfer would try and send files twice. - Multiple files could not be sent from Explorer to Scheduler. - RGET command in Script Utility only downloaded the files in the top directory. - When selecting to open a file from its current location caused crash in Browser Integration. - Log didn't show details in Script Utility. - Log and Trace windows in Script Utility stopped updating after transferring many files. - When transferring a file using FTP command, RETR didn't display progress dialog or show the file in Transfer Manager. - Sending files or folders to scheduler failed when connected to a URL or other hosttype (VMS, MVS, etc.). - It wasn't possible to define ASCII extensions by starting its name with a dot. - Selecting folders in the ComboBox disconnected and connected again to the same site. - BULL GCOS hosttype wasn't properly parsing date/time, or filesize. - Tandem-G hosttype wasn't properly parsing the time field. - Closing from drop down menu while finding hung Find Utility. - Script Utility wasn't loading default settings for profiles. - Browser for folder failed with VMS. - Command line didn't work for some hosttypes. - Prompt for overwrite same or newer files was done for every file that exist in the destination instead of just the same or newer. - Startup local folder in Classic wasn't current folder. Issues Fixed in Version 7.01 ============================ - Performance issues with reading directory listings, uploading, and downloading. - Performance issues when reading Read/Write buffer sizes from sites created with previous versions of WS_FTP. - Browse folders using a seperated window for each folder is broken. - Dragging folders from Classic interface to Desktop creates Read-only file(s) - Viewing large log in the Transfer Manager can disable entire file transfer session until it finishes loading log. - Pausing a transfer in the Transfer Manager doesn't always work properly. - Crash in Find Utility. - Copy and paste not working in Explorer. - Site modified time/date in Explorer stays at 1200am and 1/1/01 - Preserve file time option doesn't preserve time in Browser Integration - "Don't transfer older or same files during transfer" option doesn't work - Log windows in Transfer Manager don't close properly. - Copy multiple items in the Find Utility and cancel the paste operation, the files will still transfer. - Sync Utility not exlcuding folders properly. - Removed or invalid folder from Remote Site will cause infinate loop when trying to transfer it. - Find Utility crashes in Win ME when canceling a paste. - Sorting by size in the Find Utility during a find occasionally causes the app the hang. - NOOP not showing in log consistently. - Setting a Firewall will cause all sites to use Firewall settings. - Reset Window location when maximized will cause Classic to look strange. - When WS_FTP Pro is open, the -eo commandline option does not work. - Log window states that it can't connect to 255.255.255.255 when it can't resolve a host. - Creating a site in the Classic Connection Dialog w/out saving password creates 2 sites (sometimes). - Deleting sites in the Classic Connection Dialog, then creating a site brings back the previously deleted sites. - Close the Classic interface while reading a directory listing will throw a runtime error/crash. - Schedule Properties Help Does Not Explain NT Login. - Schedule Properties Missing Help Button. - With caching enabled, moving files within a site doesn't update the cache for the destination folder. - Closing Classic interface when doing a directory listing or refresh of a large folder may cause a crash. - Explorer retrieves parent folder (LIST/MLSD) before navigating into the selected folder. - Synchronize utility is adding extra directory separators when deleting files. - Browser Integration does not function correctly with a firewall. - The Sync Utility shouldn't go through all the directories when "Top Level Directory only" is selected. - IP address is changed when using leading 0's on IP addresses. - Starting and Pausing in the Transfer Manager downloads will cause resume all to not work correctly. - Transferring a directory with links pointing to files in a Unix server does not transfer properly. - Sync Utility was failing to process if the first folder was empty - Classic Interface - When a folder is selected and you hit enter, the folder is refreshed instead of the UI changing into that selected folder. - Sync Utility displays password and userid when running from command line - Scripting Utility issues Quit command twice. - URL Handler has misspelling in Browser Integration. - Scheduler does not handle URL names properly - Spelling error in connection reset log message - When you drag a file from local, system stores the file in the Storage directory rather than the intended location. - Deleting sites disconnects other sites or collapses other site w/ folders - Firewall: Option does not work if set to internal. - Spelling mistake in Log Window message. - Wildcards from command line does not work. - Transfer failing from command line will not generate error in log. - Problems saving from Quick Connect on initial opening. - After upgrade to 7.0, from 6.7, changing default text viewer results in an error when specifying ONLY on remote side. - Problem with Options Extensions Tab - remove button does not work. - Firewall settings don't save in Syncronize. - In Classic and Explorer, Append results in a file transfer. - Download arrow doesn't allow user to supply filenames when no files are selected. - In Synchronize, false dir name inserted if you don't provide a full path to the control file. - The password length limitation of 23 characters. WS_FTP Pro Classic and Explorer =============================== Description ----------- WS_FTP Pro is a Windows-based file transfer client application that transfers files between a user's local PC and a remote computer system connected via a modem and telephone lines or by a local-area network. With WS_FTP Pro, users can connect to any remote system that has a valid Internet address and an FTP server program, browse through directories and files, and transfer files between the two systems. In addition, users can create, change, and remove directories and view, execute, rename, or delete files. WS_FTP Pro complies with the Windows sockets (Winsock) standard, allowing you to transfer files between a wide variety of systems, including Windows, OS/2, and UNIX systems. WS_FTP Pro is shipped with two user interfaces: the "Classic" which looks like a standard Windows application, and the Explorer with a user interface that resembles Windows Explorer. Known Problems ------------------ When accessing help, if you get an error message saying you need a newer version of help, you can get the Microsoft update at - http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/htmlhelp/html/hhupd.exe WS_FTP Find Utility =================== Description ----------- The WS_FTP Find Utility allows searching an FTP site for files. This utility is useful when searching for files on a large, complex site. Known Problems -------------- None at this time WS_FTP Scripting Utility ========================== Description ----------- The WS_FTP Scripting Utility automates the transfer and management of files through FTP commands such as open, get, and put. For example, you can create a script that instructs WS_FTP Pro to upload certain files, and then use a scheduling program to run the script at the same time each day or week. Script lines that start with ';' are comments and are ignored by the command processor. Known Problems -------------- None at this time WS_FTP Synchronize Utility ========================== Description ----------- The WS_FTP Synchronize Utility is designed to allow you to "mirror" folders and directories between your PC and a remote FTP server. It lets you keep remote sites up-to-date by automatically uploading files which have changed, while deleting files that have been removed from the master directory. This is especially useful for quickly and efficiently updating live web sites from an authoring site, or for mirroring FTP servers. Known Problems -------------- None at this time WS_FTP Scheduler Utility ========================== Description ----------- The WS_FTP Scheduler Utility is an interface to Windows Scheduler that allows you to schedule time consuming or reoccurring tasks to be executed automatically. Known Problems -------------- The WS_FTP Scheduler requires Internet Explorer 4.02+ to properly function. Microsoft has discontinued the ability to download the Task Scheduler add-in for Internet Explorer 4.x. Internet Explorer 5.x is available for download from: http://www.microsoft.com/ie WS_FTP Browser Integration Utility ================================== Description ----------- Browser Integration allows you to use WS_FTP Pro to download files from a web browser. With this feature, if you select a download file in your web browser (provided the download file has an FTP URL), the download will be processed by WS_FTP Pro. Known Problems -------------- Does not work with Netscape Navigator Version 6. Installing (All Applications) ============================= If you purchased a WS_FTP Pro CD-ROM, insert the CD in a drive. If the CD does not automatically display a "Welcome" screen, click the Windows Start button and select Run. Enter the CD-ROM drive letter followed by autorun.exe. For example, D:\autorun.exe. Follow the instructions on your screen. If you downloaded WS_FTP Pro from the Internet, run the downloaded application, ftpproec.exe. Follow the instructions on your screen. Uninstalling (All Applications) =============================== The uninstall function removes all files associated with WS_FTP Pro from your PC, including your configured sites. It also removes the WS_FTP Pro Explorer icon from your desktop. To uninstall WS_FTP Pro, you can use the Uninstall application that is installed when you install the product. To do so, click the Start button, select WS_FTP Pro, and then select Uninstall WS_FTP Pro. Updates to the User's Guide =========================== Additions to the site INI file: Automatic connection retry timer -------------------------------- We added a timer to the automatic retry; the default is to wait 30 seconds between retries. To change this option, you must add/modify the following line in the site's INI file: RETRYDELAY=#seconds Automatic re-connect option --------------------------- We added an option to automatically re-connect to a site when a command is issued on a closed connection. This option is "on" by default. If you wish to disable this option, you must add the following value in the site's section of the INI file: AUTORECONNECT=0 Sounds ------ Sounds are now completely handled through the Windows sounds settings from the Windows Control Panel. To change or remove a sound, go to the Control Panel, select the Sounds icon, and then edit the appropriate event.
